The greatest irony of all,
I have eventually learned,
Is you can love with all of your everything,
And never have it returned.
Not that I have ever,
Expected it to be,
For love is about giving,
And not about me.
But it'd sure be nice,
If every now and again,
I had someone of mutual love,
To take away the pain.
Yet realistically? I never will.
And the sooner I accept it,
The better I'll be,
For life still continues,
With or without me.
